In the July/August edition of the commercial finance publication ABF Journal, CT Lien Solutions' Richard Fifield was featured as a contributing author, with his article "What's in a Name?"
The article demonstrates the importance of debtor name verification when perfecting a security interest. The main point? The smallest inaccuracy in a name often yields an unperfected interest—and thus a loss of claim to the collateral.
Included in the article are two case studies that illustrate how a subtle variation on a name, and in another instance an omission of a reference of incorporation, cost three lenders hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Read the article in its entirety at the link above to learn how to safeguard against a similar situation. Feel free to direct any questions via email to CT Lien Solutions.
